RIM BLACKBERRY10 SMARTPHONE ONLY BY MARCH 2013..
RIM is holding on to its promise of releasing the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones in Q1 of 2013, but it is holding on just barely. AllThingsD is reporting that an early Q1 launch for the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones looks highly ‘optimistic’ and March is looking to be a more likely launch date for the new devices. The report also reiterates that RIM is focused on delivering a polished product to the market and will not rush the release.
Previously, the company was scheduled to launch the BlackBerry 10 in Q4 of 2012, but it then retracted and stated that the OS needed some fine-tuning for which it had delayed the launch to Q1 of 2013.One can’t help thinking if this is going to be too late for RIM, because by March 2013 Microsoft would have released a slew of Windows Phone 8 products and Google will also have a new range of Nexus smartphones in the market.
SONY'S NEW 2013 SMARTPHONE "ODIN"
SONY'S NEW 2013 SMARTPHONE "ODIN"
Sony is reportedly preparing to launch its lineup of Android-powered Xperia smartphones in 2013 that will be spearheaded with a flagship device codenamed "Odin".
While details are minimal, model numbers for the device are C6052, C6053 and C6056, with the last number of each model representing a different region. The device will also apparently launch sometime during 2013 and run on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1.
A mid-range "C160X" that comes equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A CPU, as well as an Adreno 200 GPU is also due to be released with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Its resolution is just 480 x 320, with the actual screen size unknown. An entry-level "C150X" is also planned, but details are scarce.
AndroidAuthority said the "C" in the smartphone model numbers could suggest that the Cyber-shot branding Sony integrated into previous phones will be making a return.

HP Smartphone NOT IN 2013
CEO Meg Whitman said
HP has no plans to launch a smartphone next year but will need to sell one eventually to avoid missing out on "a huge segment of the population," CEO Meg Whitman said yesterday.Whitman told the Fox Business Network last month that HP would need to offer a smartphone because phones have become the primary computing device for people in many countries. "We are working on this," she said at the time.
Asked about the smartphone plans at HP's financial analyst day yesterday, Whitman acknowledged she had made "quite a stir" with her earlier remarks.
"We don't have any plans to introduce a smartphone in 2013, but we've got to start thinking about what is our unique play, how do we capture this element of the personal computing market?" Whitman said.
HP has to offer every kind of device, from workstations through all-in-one PCs, laptops, hybrid PCs, tablets "and, ultimately, smartphones," she said.
"I believe that five years from now, if we don't have a smartphone or whatever the next generation of that device is, we'll be locked out of a huge segment of the population in many countries of the world," she said.
HP launched some smartphones and tablets last year based on its webOS but, under former CEO Leo Apotheker, stopped developing those devices.
Also on Wednesday, Whitman seemed to cede the market for consumer tablets to Apple but said company CIOs would rather have a device based on Windows.
"The consumer market, I would argue, is quite well-served by the tablet in the marketplace today from Apple," she said.
"But every CIO I talk to wants to have a Windows device, backward compatibility, the ability to control those devices from a security perspective."
Earlier in the day, Todd Bradley, who runs HP's Printing and Personal Systems Group, said HP expects tablet sales to businesses to grow at three times the rate of sales to consumers.
HP used the analyst day to expand on a restructuring plan announced in May to help turn around its finances. As part of the effort it will reduce the number of products it sells, including eliminating a quarter of its PC platforms and 30% of its printer models over the next two years.
It also offered a weak financial outlook for its next fiscal year, saying it expects earnings per share of $3.40 to $3.60. That was well below the consensus estimate of $4.18 from analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.
HP's shares plummeted on the news, falling almost 13% to $14.91 at the close of yesterday's trading.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 N7100
Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 2 in India yesterday and we managed to take some devices from the labs to the event for a real life comparison to find out how big the new Note is. While the Note 2 is a lot easier to grip , it is still a big phone. It makes the iPhone 4S look so small when held next to it.
My current main devices are the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy Nexus and I find the 4.5 inch display on the Galaxy Nexus more comfortable to work with. Previously on the Note, you had to use both your hands to get work done , but Samsung has added features such as a one-hand mode to make it easier to deal with the larger form factor.
